Chipolatas
The man has fingers like chipolatas,
A hand with five thumbs.
Yet he draws such beautiful tunes
From guitar or mandolin.
Digits writhe against each other;
Fighting for the limited space.
The ring on his finger flashes;
Punctuating the rhythm of his chords.
Matching the flash of his earring
And that of his teeth as he smiles.
A measured glint upon the fretboard
Displaying his craft for all to see.
How can fingers such as these
Exhibit the agility of dancers?
